History of Concerned National Black Nurses of Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), Inc.
Concerned National Black Nurses of Central Savannah River Area, Inc. is an organization established to investigate, define, and help determine the health care needs of African-Americans and others in the general community. Mrs. Beulah Nash-Teachey and Mrs. Samantha Agee understood many of the disparities within the community and agreed it was undeniable that a chapter of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) would be beneficial to the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). Both women opened the doors of their homes, in March 2005, to registered, licensed practical, and student nurses along with allied health professionals to begin the passion of being members of Concerned Nurses of CSRA, Inc. Seven dedicated and determined individuals joined together to pave the way for others to share concerns in their work areas, discuss the trails of school, and yes, love and respect for each others.
Guided by our motto “Serving because we care”, our organization is able to fund yearly book scholarships for nursing and allied health students and conduct programs to educate and promote healthy living and prevention, while executing our mission. Wanting to gain more recognition, support and believe – there is greater strength in numbers, the group applied for membership to the National Black Nurses Association, Inc. with a roster of twenty five members.
Concerned National Black Nurses of CSRA, Inc. chartered in August 2009, has the understanding, knowledge, interest, and experience to make a significant difference in the health care status of members within our general community.
